Utrom Shredder is the main antagonist of the series.  Of all the characters, this version of Shredder has the most history with the Turtles and Splinter, going back decades when Splinter was a pet rat of Hamato Yoshi.  Shredder is actually an Utrom prisoner and criminal from a the Utrom home world.  While in prison centuries ago on a spaceship, the ship crashes on Earth's Japan where he escapes custody and hides in the shadows and blends in with the natives of Japan by moving around inside an Utrom exoskeleton pretending to be human as close as possible.   Shredder recreates his exoskeleton suit to resemble an ancient warrior and billionaire, Oroku Saki.  He even made an armor resembling the Shredder and uses his alias as Shredder.
